Do You Remember Micronauts?
One of the last toys I remember playing with, back in the late 1970s, was the Micronaut Time Traveler. It was a big deal to kids my age. Pocket sized, they were carried to school where many adventures were shared among friends during recess.
Micronauts were some of the first of the miniature action figures available at every K-Mart or toy store around. Prior to that, there were 12" G.I. Joes and Star Wars figures.
Unfortunately, as I got older, toys were no longer an interest to me and my collection of Time Travelers, and all their accessories, were lost to garage sales and donation bins. However, I will never forget their effect on me, and how they represented the last moments of my childhood.
Recently, I had a few bucks in my Paypal balance from a lapel pin sale. I decided to see if there were any good Micronauts available on ebay. I've checked from time-to-time, and when I find them, they're usually missing parts or really expensive. This time I managed to find one in good shape, for the same amount I had available. So, I ordered it.
This one is a great example of the ones I used to play with, however, they are a lot smaller than I remember. Since this one is so old, it probably won't be spending any time in my pocket, heading for recess. It will stay on my shelf as a great reminder of my youth.
